First grade skills that should already be mastered:
- Beginning each sentence with a capital letter
- Ending each sentence with correct punctuation
- Being able to write in a complete sentence
- Forming letters correctly on the lines
- Not using capital letters in the middle of a sentence unless it's a proper noun
